"I would like to take this year to thank all those of you have helped and supported me throughout my career, it has been an honour and a privilege to follow my childhood dream and play for Sussex, my home county.

For as long as I can remember all I wanted to do was play the game, a dream that has shown me the highs and lows of sport. I was lucky enough to be part of the winning sides of the 2006 and 2007 County Champions Team and also to feel the disappointment of relegation.

Today I am humbled to be granted a Testimonial Year as thanks for doing what I love. I hope you will find time to come along and enjoy some, if not all, of the events that we have planned so I can personally thank you for your support."

Chris Nash, Cuckfield-born, has developed into one of the most dependable batsmen on the county circuit. His busy, combative style might rarely have interested England, or indeed many outside his own county, but he has frustrated many a county attack as he has served Sussex well for more than a decade. The respect in which he was held also earned him the Sussex vice captaincy after 10 years in the first-class game.
